World and Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius or as many people refer to him, Blade Runner has made history this weekend in Daegu at the World Athletics Championships. Oscar is a well known and loved hero in South Africa, he is known as Blade Runner, due to his carbon fibre prosthetic legs. He has made a momentous appearance at the sporting event in Daegu, South Korea, running alongside able-bodied athletes which is something that has never been done by a disabled athlete.

Oscar finished third in his heat in 45.39 seconds and by doing so he qualified for the semi final.

The media and governing bodies have had their hands full due to speculation that he has an unfair advantage running with his “blades” and whether he should be allowed to compete at the championships. Whatever happens, he has made history, struggled for the recognition and has overcome mountainous obstacles!

Go Blade Runner!
