Team captains Greg Norman and Fred Couples have announced their final picks for the Presidents Cup teams. As mentioned before, Fred Couples have already chosen Tiger Woods as the 11th player of the US team and only had 1 outstanding pick to make. He went with the obvious choice by picking Tour Championship/ FedEx cup winner Bill Haas. With the form he currently is in, nobody expected him to choose anybody else.
Greg Norman chose 2 Australian players for his 2 final picks, namely Aaron Baddeley and Stuart Allenby. Allenby has quite a lot of experience in The Presidents Cup as this will be his 6th appearance. Allenby hasn’t been playing his best golf this year with only three top-10 finishes on the PGA TOUR. But seeing that the event will be held in Melbourne, he should bring some home-field advantage to the team. The other Australian Aaron Baddeley will be making his Presidents Cup debut this year. Even though he is quite young, he has been in great form with 3 wins in the PGA Tour. He finished tied 3rd in the Tour Championships and even led the tournament after the 3rd round. It seems obvious that Norman went for home field advantage and form, which might be the reason why Louis Oosthuizen was not picked. I would’ve wanted Louis to be there but he hasn’t been performing at his best in both the European and PGA tour.
That being said below are the final teams.

Tournaments like these are great if you want to start watching golf on television. They are the most exciting and is usually where the players show a lot of emotion and motivation. If you look at the golf adverts where it shows the players pumping fists or screaming for joy, that is 9 times of 10 in a tournament that is similar to this. I guess it’s because the players don’t play for themselves anymore but for a team. Yes it might not be shown at the best times seeing that it is played in Australia but make full use of that PVR where possible.
