Victor Matfield is the master of the lineout and definitively one of the best the game has ever seen in this facet of play. He has an astonishing ability to read the opposition lineout, which has given many a world class hooker sleepless nights. A veteran of over 100 Springbok caps and the victorious 2007 Rugby World Cup team he will love to end his career on a high by winning one more big one. He is also selected as the vice captain and with John Smit most probably making way for Bismarck du Plessis during the tournament he will also take the reigns on many occasions. Matfield started his career at the now defunct Cats before becoming the “Kaptein” (captain) of Loftus with the Bulls. He also had a brief stint with French side Toulon in 2008.
