Willem Alberts was in the middle of a nasty contract battle when changing clubs from the Lions, where he played since 2004, to the  Sharks at the end of the 2009 season. The move paid off for Alberts winning the Currie Cup with the Sharks and also getting a call up to the national squad to tour Europe. He scored in each of the 3 games he played on that tour, most of them off the bench stating his claim as an impressive impact player. Look for him on the bench at this year’s World Cup causing some second half destruction of tired opposition defenses.
